Bournemouth International Airport has daily flights to numerous European destinations and there are daily sea ferries from Poole to France, Spain and the Channel Islands.

Surrounding Area
The coastal area to the east and west of Bournemouth is known as the Jurassic Coast, and is designated a World Heritage Site. To the west of Bournemouth lies the ancient port of Poole, situated within a huge natural harbour.
Poole provides access to wildlife, deserted islands and beautiful landscapes. It is also one of the busiest and most exciting places in the UK to practise water sports. To the east lies Christchurch, in a picturesque setting on the River Avon. The town has a charming medieval atmosphere and is dominated by its ancient priory.

Bournemouth is less than 2 hours travelling time from London by coach, train or car, and provides easy access to many regional cultural features, as well as to the cities of Bath, Oxford, Salisbury and Southampton. On their first morning at BBSI, students participate in a tour of Bournemouth and view those amenities close to the School. Transport facilities are explained, included those bus routes between the Town Centre (the location of BBSI) and areas of host-family accommodation. Most bus journeys in and around Bournemouth take between 10 and 20 minutes.

Orientation
On their first morning at BBSI students are shown the facilities and are introduced to their tutors. The individual study programme and weekly academic timetable are carefully explained, and students are introduced to their new colleagues. BBSI also provides a tour of Bournemouth for those students who commence their programmes at the start of an academic term.
