BBSI Accommodation Facilities

While you study in Britain at Bournemouth Business School International, a highly-accredited business college and English language school in Bournemouth, England, UK, it is important that you are comfortable in your domestic environment and that during your study programme you mix with as many native-speakers of English as possible and absorb the local culture in your everyday activities.

BBSI offer international students various accommodation options to suit your personal requirements, including host-family accommodation, executive host-family accommodation, hotel accommodation, bed & breakfast accommodation, or self-catering facilities. To ensure maximum exposure to the English language and British culture during your stay in England, however, we would advise all trainees, including young executives and professionals, to reside with local British host-families.

Host-Family Accommodation

One of the best ways to 'acquire' the English language outside the classroom and to experience the British culture is to live with a British host family. BBSI host-family accommodation includes a comfortable single study/bedroom, breakfast and evening meal Monday-Friday, with full-board facilities (all meals) at weekends. Our host families are located close to the School and are inspected regularly to ensure that the highest standards of accommodation and care are continually met and maintained.

Executive Host-Family Accommodation

The Executive Host-Family option provides accommodation in a high-quality home in an exclusive residential area, with study/bedrooms of above-average size and with en-suite/private bathroom facilities. Moreover, many of our executive rooms have television included and some provide a high-speed Internet connection. The accommodation provides breakfast and evening meals Monday-Friday, with full-board facilities (all meals) at weekends. Our families are located close to the School and are inspected regularly to ensure that the highest standards of accommodation and care are continually met and maintained.

Residence

We do not have a residence at BBSI, but within one minute of the School is a privately run residence called Glenfern Residential Student Accommodation.  Please note that this accommodation is mainly available during the summer months of July and August; however, rooms are occasionally available at other times of the year when vacated by the university students.  The details are as follows:

Guest Houses & Hotels

BBSI can recommend several small, friendly guest houses and hotels close to our premises that would suit all budgets. You can choose a room with or without a private bathroom, and breakfast is included. Dinner can also be provided on request.

Self-Catering Accommodation

For those of you who require a greater degree of independence, we can offer guidance in respect of self-catering and shared facilities.

Welfare Facilities

BBSI staff have developed a unique understanding of international students and we recognise that individuals have widely different welfare and cultural needs. Our policy is to provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment for study. Welfare staff are therefore on hand throughout normal School opening hours and emergency staff are contactable at weekends and overnight. We also insist on high standards in equipment and operating systems, and provide the necessary information, training and supervision required to ensure those standards are maintained throughout the School. We also accept full responsibility for the health and safety of all people associated with BBSI. The British Council has provided a personal safety guide for international students; this information is available at www.educationuk.org. Click on 'Living in the UK' and then on 'Health & Safety'.

If you have enrolled on a course at BBSI or are thinking of doing so, you will probably have many questions. The UKCOSA website, at www.ukcosa.org.uk, provides some very helpful advice for students. The information on this site is divided into several sections and the links to the sections are as follows:

Sports, Leisure & Recreation

The BBSI ethos is based on the work-hard, play-hard principle. In addition to a sound and intensive academic programme, students are encouraged in every way possible to enjoy their leisure time to the full. The school has a varied and extensive social and sports programme.

Religious Observance

When compiling weekly timetables the school makes every effort to allow trainees to observe their religious faiths.

Medical Care

All necessary medical arrangements are made for trainees who become unwell, and medical treatment is normally provided free by the British National Health Service in the event of an accident or emergency. Insurance cover is necessary, however, to cover the cost of non-emergency treatment, including dental and optical care.
