Summer Course in Hospitality & Tourism


The BBSI summer course Hospitality & Tourism, is conducted at our English Language School in England.
 
The BBSI summer course in Hospitality & Tourism comprises a study programme of 20 lessons (15 hours) weekly.  The course is designed for those with a minimum English language level equivalent to IELTS [Academic] 5.5/CEFR B2, who wish to improve their specialised English and business skills.  Training focuses on developing students' understanding of hospitality management and tourism concepts, vocabulary and skills, and combines current business issues with targeted case studies.  Participants with good attendance who complete all class work and assignments will be able to communicate effectively in English in a professional business environment related to hospitality management and tourism, and participants will acquire a sound knowledge and understanding of the tourism industry in an international context.

Course Outline
Course Duration.  2-12 weeks.
Minimum English-Language Entry Level.  IELTS 5.5/CEFR B2.

Course Code.  HSP.
Course Entry Dates.  Entry to this flexible course is weekly from July to September. The first entry date for 2012 is 2 July and the last entry date is 10 September.
 
Minimum Age.  17 years.
Award.  Academic achievement is ascertained by means of continuous assessment.
 
      BBSI Certificate in Hospitality & Tourism. 

Course Structure & Content.  A minimum of 2 weeks' study is required, comprising 20, forty-five minute lessons (15 hours weekly).  Course breakdown is as follows:

      * 20 lessons weekly in Hospitality & Tourism.
 
Course Elements.  The Hospitality & Tourism summer course incorporates specialised elements within the following topics:

      Hospitality & Tourism Components 
            *  structure of the hospitality industry
            *  accommodation services
            *  hotel grading systems
            *  tourist motivation & behaviour
            *  customer service
            *  hotel front office
            *  careers & destination management
            *  the travel industry
            *  tourism management & operations
            *  the econmics of tourism

Course Objectives.  The course objectives are to:
 

*  Develop English-language communication skills relevant to hospitality 
         management & tourism.

*  Build appropriate vocabulary for the hospitality & tourism industries.

*  Develop an understanding of hospitality management & tourism concepts.

*  Develop an understanding of current developments & issues within the 
 travel industry.
 
Course Fees. 
      HSP - £235.00 weekly
BBSI courses are carefully designed and structured at different language levels to enable international students to develop all 4 English language skills simultaneously, while developing their professional communication skills and professional knowledge in academic, vocational or professional context, in the specialised subject of their choice. Students therefore have the flexibility to focus on either academic or vocational progression, depending on their personal training needs and particular learning objectives.
