Summer Course in Finance & Business Skills

Course Duration.   2-12 weeks

Minimum English Entry Level.  IELTS 5.0

Entry Dates. Entry to this flexible course is weekly from July to September 2010. 
The first entry date for 2010 is 05 July and the last entry date is 13 September.
The course dates for 2011 are 27 June - 16 September 2011.

Minimum Age.  17 years

Award.   BBSI Certificate in Finance & Business Skills

Course Structure & Content.  Training focuses on the development of finance and business skills, and is designed to enable students to develop appropriate finance and business vocabulary, as well as professional skills and professional communication skills.  The course combines current finance and business issues wtih targeted case studies. 

    Finance Components 
      *  the external environment
      *  types of business structure
      *  top-down fund selections
      *  public offers, rights issues, scrip issues
      *  personal financial planning
      *  collective investments
      *  equities
      *  interpreting company accounts
      *  competition issues
      *  nature & role of banks 

 

      *  Preparation for the International Certificate in Financial English (ICFE) 
      *  understanding financial reports & related correspondence
      *  presenting financial arguments or expressing opinions
      *  questioning & requesting financial clarification
      *  writing factual reports & fact-based correspondence

Business Skills Components.  The business skills components are aimed at developing more effective communication skills for for a broad range of business environments.  Moreover, the teaching materials are largely authentic, are based on real-life case studies, and are designed to build confidence through activities such as discussions, role-play and simulations.  The skills covered each week will be selected from the following:

      FBS - £265.00 weekly

 

† Examination fess for external examinations are not included in the BBSI course fees.

BBSI courses are carefully designed and structured at different language levels to enable international students to develop all 4 English language skills simultaneously, while developing their professional communication skills and professional knowledge in academic, vocational or professional context, in the specialised subject of their choice. Students therefore have the flexibility to focus on either academic or vocational progression, depending on their personal training needs and particular learning objectives.
