Summer Course in English & IELTS [Academic] Preparation
BBSI is one of the most accredited business colleges and English schools in the UK. Based in Bournemouth, on the south coast of England, BBSI offers a short summer course in Academic English with IELTS Examination Preparation.
BBSI provides its IELTS [Academic] examination preparation courses in different formats to suit the personal requirements of students. The courses are suitable for those students who have an Intermediate level in English or above, ie CEFR B2, who require this globally recognised English language qualification to verify their academic communication skills to universities, colleges of further education or future employers. The courses are modular in format,enabling students to join a course at any time throughout the year. There are 2 study options:

30 lessons weekly (AEI30). 4-48 weeks.
40 lessons weekly (AEI40). 4-48 weeks.
Both courses are offered at different language levels, from CEFR B1 to C2, and include extensive language development and preparation for the IELTS [Academic] examination. Students are tested and interviewed on arrival at BBSI and then placed in international classes at the appropriate language level.

IELTS [Academic] Examination Preparation. IELTS measures ability to communicate in English across all 4 language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication. IELTS is the preferred English language assessment for universities in English-speaking countries worldwide, and therefore BBSI courses focus on preparing students for the Academic module. Students require sound academic study skills when preparing for further study, therefore the courses include Academic Study Skills 
within the IELTS Examination Preparation , as follows:

IELTS [Academic] examinations take place monthly in Bournemouth and a place can be secured at the time of booking your course with BBSI. Candidates must book for the examination at least 6 weeks before each examination sitting, and are recommended to study for 12 weeks prior to the examination, to maximise their chances of success.
The BBSI English & IELTS [Academic] Preparation courses can be studied for periods of between 4 and 48 weeks. The courses can be joined on any Monday during the year, with the exception of UK public holidays when courses will commence on the following day.

Course Details
Course Duration. 4-48 weeks.Minimum Age. 17 years.Minimum English-Language Entry Level. IELTS 4.5/ CEFR B1.

Award. Academic achievement is ascertained by means of continuous assessment.
BBSI Certificate in English & IELTS [Academic] Preparation
Optional External Examination+. Additional examination fees apply. IELTS examinations are held monthly.

Course Structure & Content. A minimum of 4 weeks study is required. Students can study 30 lessons (22.5 hours), or 40 lessons (30 hours), weekly. Course breakdown is as follows:20 lessons weekly of English language study, to include:
10 lessons weekly in grammar & functions
2 lessons weekly in vocabulary development
4 lessons weekly in reading & writing skills
4 lessons weekly in speaking, listening & pronunciation skills
10 lessons weekly in IELTS [Academic] Examination Preparation (EIP 30 only)
20 lessons weekly in IELTS [Academic] Examination Preparation (EIP 40 only)Course Fees

+ Examination fess for external examinations are not included in the BBSI course fees.
